Review & Giveaway: Bum Covered Diapers cloth diapers

I'm always on the search for new cloth diapers to add to my stash! When I started cloth diapering, I thought I'd just find one brand I liked and stick with that. But I've found that there are MANY brands and types that I like & I like having options.

I recently decided to try fitted diapers. I turned to Bum Covered Diapers because they have a GREAT Build-Your-Own fitted diaper! What could be better than designing a diaper exactly how you wan it?!

These fitted diapers are made exactly the way you want them! You choose the flannel print for the outside. We put two layers of flannel and a heavy soaker pad on the inside. We can create a custom diaper especially for your little one. You choose outside print, the soaker material, and the inside fabric! These diapers will require a waterproof cover. Plastic pants will do, or PUL covers like Thirsties, or Bummis Wraps will work fine.

They have tons of super cute prints!

I am super happy with this diaper! I got a size large & it fits all THREE of my kids (ranging from 18-28 pounds.) I originally didn't think I'd like fitteds, because I love the versatility of OS diapers since I have THREE in diapers, so I was pleased that this fit all of them.

This diaper is super absorbent. You're technically supposed to use a cover, but I've never had to and we've never had a leak! (I would definitely use a cover for naptime/bedtime, though!)

I finally feel like our new house is a home. I've finally finished the boys' room, & it was all thanks to Retro Planet!

I have quite a collection of reusable grocery bags. I do most of my shopping at discount grocery stores that don't provide bags for you & it's ridiculous to buy cheap paper or plastic bags every time you shop. (Not to mention how bad paper and plastic bags are for the environment!)

I've found tons of other uses for cloth grocery bags, as well! I always have one packed with an extra outfit for each kids and keep it in the trunk of the car. We even packed the majority of our house up in cloth grocery bags when we moved (my husband "forgot" to get boxes)!

Review & Giveaway: Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach

I've tried several Tropical Traditions products over the past month & I think it's pretty clear that I love them! Well, I've found another product to add to the "LOVE IT!" category, the Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach!

As all cloth diapering mamas know, occasionally you can get a bad case of the stinkies. We battled this problem for several months until I finally found a cure: adding a tablespoon of bleach to the last rinse cycle! Since I've done this, we've had no stinkies. But now we have a new problem. Bleach spots on my adorable diapers!

Since Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach comes in a powder, not a liquid, we no longer have this problem! Now my diapers aren't stinky and no more bleached out spots!

Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach has many other household uses, too!

• To destain and deodorize carpets add one ounce of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of carpet shampoo prior to cleaning.
• To remove mold and mildew from carpeting add 2-4 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of hot water, apply generously to stain, wait 10 minutes, then vacuum with extractor.
• For acoustic tiles add 6 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of hot water, spray on tiles, wait 15 minutes then rinse.
• For mops add 3 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to a gallon of hot water, soak overnight then rinse.
• For mildew removal or to clean baseboards or basement floors after water damage from flooding add 4 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to a gallon of hot water, scrub surface, wait 30 minutes then rinse. Oxygen Bleach is safe for use in a closed environment.
• To clean and deodorize cat litter boxes soak them in 3 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of water for 20 minutes then rinse.
• For urine, feces, or vomit stains on carpets or upholstery, add one teaspoon of Oxygen Bleach to 8 ounces of water, wipe onto stain, wait 10 minutes then rinse.

People have been using chlorine bleach in their laundries since the end of the 18th century. While these products work very well in whitening clothes, chlorine bleaches do have a negative effect upon the environment because of their chemistry. Care must be taken in using chlorine bleach as it is toxic to humans, animals, and plants.* Also, we all have experienced destroying a colored article of clothing because chlorine bleach was accidentally spilled on it.

Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach is a safe and effective alternative to chlorine based products and it can be used in many applications in and around the home. It is based on sodium percarbonate which uses oxygen for destaining and deodorizing. Oxygen Bleach is safe to use at all temperatures, on most washable fabrics, and all colors, in hard or soft water, and is compatible with other household cleaners. Also, it produces no harmful by-products which negatively affect the environment. Unlike chlorine bleach, which can merely cover up a stain, Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach attacks and breaks down organic stains to totally remove them from the garment.

I was SO excited when I came across The Pretty Peacock! I've been looking for a birthstone necklace to symbolize my kids, but since we do foster care, I needed something that was easily customizable. I was at a total loss until I found the Portals collection at The Pretty Peacock.
